Guerilla Cafe

If you are tired of cafes where everyone is staring at their laptop, the music is canned, the vibe is Applebees, the art is poster, the coffee is nasty (and we know it’s over-priced, not to mention absent and stale) you’ll love the Guerrilla Cafe because it’s the Last Bohemian Adventure.

Located in the heart of the Allen Flood Plane Roos Roast is in a barn carrying the address 410 West Huron Street. Right near Sun Moon Yoga and across Huron Street from the new YMCA.This is where I do my roasting, painting, selling and drinking great coffee. Once a month I teach a coffee class where I show people how to roast coffee, and then we get really wired on the latest java and par-take in some freshly made muffins. There is a spirit of the old days in and around this area I call the Last Bohemian Adventure. This barn housed the horses who used to drag blocks of ice up from the Huron River and the ice was then sold by the pound at the adjcent ice house. The area is steeped in Ann Arbor history. Ann’s Arbor was right across the street (if you look carefully you can find the stone monument there across from the homeless shelter. As you look out from the long loading dock of the barn there is a massive concrete retaining wall on top of which is the train tracks heading south to Toledo. This is where coal cars would dump there load of coal for heating houses.

Now you can buy RoosRoast coffee, by the pound, ground, or just chat with Roos and have an espresso, $2 fee and he’ll probably ask if you want another. (which he claims to have perfected.) It’s the best espresso in all the land! Beacoupe De Mousse! Here is the real deal and this whole idea of a virtual cafe came out of having a full time job selling Subaru’s and knowing from all his previous coffee snobbery that he could do coffee better any way you brew it roos is gonna do it.

Just call John (at 734-709-9565), work out a time, and he’ll meet you there and you can have it become a reality (t-shirts not included but surely possible)! The best thing you can do is get a group of people together and he’ll give a class.
